I recently spent the weekend in South Beach for a bachelorette party and although the entire trip was fun, one of the highlights of the trip, at least for me, was lunch at The Dutch Miami. First of all, one of the other bridesmaids happens to work at The Dutch New York and was able to get us a pretty amazing discount but aside from that, the food and setting are both phenomenal. If it’s not too hot, dine outside. It’s absolutely dreamy. By the way, they have one of the cutest about pages ever.
So, lunch at The Dutch. Yum. I think I probably tasted everyone’s order and, honestly, there isn’t one bad thing I can say about this place. It’s funny, but my favorite thing about the lunch was the free bread they brought out for us. Before we ordered, corn muffins with scallions and moist, chewy bread (I’m guessing focaccia bread) with tomato topping were served with softened honey butter (pictured above). So, after I stuffed myself with way too much of this delicious bread, I ordered the blackened mahi with wilted kale. I was full before it arrived and still managed to clean my entire plate AND, as I mentioned, try everyone else’s dish. As far as favorites go, I’m torn between my mahi mahi dish and the roasted chicken served atop wild rice, quinoa and dill yogurt sauce. Other winners include the lobster roll, and pasta with lamb bolgonese. Although we didn’t order any, I’m told they’re also known for their oyster selection.
THEN, they brought out dessert for us. We all huffed and puffed and talked about how full we were. We couldn’t possibly eat another bite, we said. Well, let me tell you. The dessert was g.o.n.e. in about 2.5 seconds. After an order of the New Orleans Beignets (my fav) and 3 different types of pie (salted lime, warm strawberry and banana cream) we rolled out of The Dutch and happily plopped ourselves on the beach.
All was right with the world.
